Leaving for Toronto

Ryan got us cheap tickets with his Aeroplan points, so we are driving to Toronto to catch our flight to Calgary.

I packed up all my stuff yesterday and took it to work in the morning. Keith made me some lunch and after work, Ryan picked me up in his crazy vegetable oil fuelled Volkswagen.

Then we picked up Sylvain and when we arrived, him and his roommate were actually watching Friends on TV. French people really DO love that show, it's true! They were excited to watch it with the real English voices.

We drove all the way to Toronto, stopping in Cobourg for a chocolate milkshake at Harvey's. Ryan's friend ended up not being home for us to crash there, so we went and found the cheap Best Western I had called earlier in the day. We got a deal, all the parking we want and a sleep for $100-something bucks. OK not really a good deal, but whatever.

Somewhere in between looking for a hotel room, Sylvain was accosted by a man looking for $20 for a bus ride home. He was drunk and lost his wallet, his wife was mad at him, and he didn't know where his friends were. Sylvain is "too nice" so he handed over a crisp twenty! The man (Norm) said "I'm gonna cry" and ran to catch the bus...
