We had lunch in Kingston
09.04.2009
We drove from Ottawa to Newmarket today, it's Good Friday. Keith has not explored this area of the world too much, so he is inclined to stop and see things like the "Big Apple" at the side of highway 401 (maybe on the way home, I said).
He was also interested in the 1000 Islands, but I was not. Finally, when we drove past Kingston, I felt like stopping and exploring the city a little bit. After filling up the gas and asking the attendant what would be open on a Good Friday afternoon, he said "not a whole lot" and we continued on foot through the little streets.
Scott had recommended Chez Piggy or the Pelican Pub, but Chez Piggy was too expensive and we didn't even bother looking for the Pelican Pub. Across the street, I spied a "workers co-operative" coffee shop, the Sleepless Goat. It also served lunch. I ordered a lentil veggie burger but it was dis-gust-ting. Keith said it "tastes like anguish". I wouldn't go that far.
After wandering around a little bit, it was pretty boring, so we just kept going to get to my aunt's house in Newmarket.
When we got there, they had linguine and roast peppers waiting for us! Amazing! We had picked up some fancy ice cream so we had that for dessert. Then, I got some help filling out my taxes.... aw, thanks guys.
