The bus broke down...
13.03.2011
Peter offered to take me to the bus this morning, so I happily stuffed all my stuff in his back seat and went to buy my discovery pass at the depot.
He left me there, not knowing exactly what was in store...
Around 2:15 p.m. the bus driver came out to announce that the bus would not be leaving until Wednesday. Something about the levelling liquid in the bus, that makes it tilt. If we hit a curve the wrong way, we could topple down a mountain somewhere in northern BC.
Everyone was upset except for me. I got to go and hang out with the Saskatchewan crew some more! Ha.
I tried to call a bunch of people but could not find them. Gavin answered his phone and said that of course I could stay until Wednesday. I decided to try and walk all the way back, the nice guys at the bus station let me leave my stuff there until Wednesday.
Before I could make it out the door, they announced that the bus would in fact be running after all. OK, so I called everyone back again to tell them I'm leaving.
Half an hour later, no, the bus is not running.... everyone go home folks.
Agh! So again, I called everyone one more time to say that the initial plan is still on. I would pack a small day pack and stay in Whitehorse for a while longer.
When I got back to the house, Sean was still here, and eventually everyone started to straggle in. I could not remember who I had informed about all of this craziness, so I had to tell the story a bazillion times.
Gavin cooked a veggie stir fry and while we were eating he invited me to come to his ski-in cabin in Carcross. There is a sauna and cozy couches and sleeping bags. Who could turn down such an offer? Not me. So I said I'd stay until next Monday if Greyhound lets me change the date on the ticket.
We also watched Predators. Awesome awesome movie, btw.
