A Travellerspoint blog

I'm in Korea!

It's not as crazy as Thailand, everything is very sane and calm. Korea has already changed my opinion of Asia. I was expecting a lot more chaos, so the order and good behaviour is greatly appreciated.

I had a normal flight with nothing really to speak about. Singapore Airlines has been overhyped by myself and others.

No problems at customs, but when I opened my backpack, an inspection tag came out from my American friends. It had been selected for a physical search. I don't think anything is missing, but the shampoo bottle exploded all over everything :(

Now, I am staying at a couchsurfer's place in Jeonju, 3 hours south of Seoul.

Wookang picked me up right from the bus. At first I didn't see him there, because he was at the bus terminal, which is logical, but the bus dropped us off at a random hotel near the red light district. So after some quick emailing (in the rain) he found me!

It was raining and we went out to get some stuff for breakfast. He made a production of opening all the doors and holding the umbrella for me. Are all Korean men so chivalrous? Maybe I had the wrong idea about not dating them... ha.

I was exhausted, so I took a shower and rolled out the blankets on the floor and went to sleep. Wookang's friend upstairs let him use his place while he was gone, so I even had the apartment all to myself.
