Deogyusan hike
27.01.2013
I tried to wake up early today, but it wasn't early enough. I took the bus to Jeonju, and then another bus to Muju and then ANOTHER bus to Gu-cheong, or something like that.
The driver on the Gu-cheong bus dropped me off 2 km from where I wanted to be. He thought I was going skiing, which I was not.
The next bus didn't come for another hour, so I just walked to the trailhead, grumbling the whole time.
However, it was a very nice hike. I went 1.5 hours in and just made it to a well preserved temple. It was destroyed in the Korean war, but built back up again in the 1960s. I don't think many people visit it because of the hike, so I think it's my favourite temple so far. When I came back out, was just in time to make the last bus home. I had to sort of run down the mountain to catch it, actually. Luckily this last bus went straight to Jeonju and I didn't have to switch in Muju again.
I was so tired, that I didn't notice that the bus driver gave me back too much change. I actually thought he gave me less change than I was supposed to get, so I yelled at him for about five minutes. Neither of us quite understanding each other. Every time he saw me after that, he said something mean to me in Korean. It was a long bus ride.
