OMG DMZ!

Finally I am going to the DMZ!

Dave booked two seats on a tour to the DMZ. The demilitarized zone in between South Korea and North Korea.

First, we went to an amusement park where you can see the Friendship Bridge, which used to be one of the only links to North Korea. Now, people hang ribbons and messages to friends and family members on it for people on the other side.

Next stop was the "Third Tunnel of Aggression". Which was a tunnel that North Koreans dug but still deny it. It was found in the 1970s. We went deep down underground on an 11 degree slope, then tall people had to bend over and go all the way to the end of it, where there was a small hole, and you could see what I suppose was North Korea. All that was there, was a metal box. Kind of not worth it. No photos allowed, sorry.

There was a water fountain with DMZ spring water. Really fresh because there's no industry around.

Back on the bus, and back to another observation platform, to try and look at North Korea. It was hazy when we were there, and not really interesting.

Then lunch was an elementary school affair. We got fish ovaries, but no one would believe me that's what they were. They still wouldn't eat them just in case.

After lunch we toured around the Joint Security Area, where they have all the talks and try to end the war and make sure no one is doing bad things to each other. It was kind of intense for me. Everything looks like it was built in the 60s and whenever I looked around it was really hard not to see a lot of dead people everywhere. Especially when our guide is telling us stories of death and destruction nonstop.
