The crazy cable car adventure

I had to work Monday afternoon so I had two days less vacation in a row than everyone else. On Tuesday morning, Joe and I tried to buy tickets to Wulingyuan, the place where they filmed avatar and a UNESCO heritage site. However, the earliest bus was leaving that night at 6:30. We had to wait. This is china at holiday time. It only got worse from here. We arrived in what we thought was the "village" at around 11. We got a hotel, some delicious street food and thought we'd figure it all out tomorrow.

In the morning it didn't turn out that way. We walked around aimlessly for at least an hour before figuring out we were in the "city" and the village was an hour away, in a minibus we'd have to probably trample children and old people to get on. So, we stayed in the city and took the nearest cable car up the mountain. After three hours of waiting in a gigantic line, and getting trampled a few times ourselves, we finally made it up the mountain. It was epic. The cable car deposited us at the very top of everything and we ambled around on various boardwalks and platforms. Joe kinda freaked out the whole time but it was fun to watch him and his acrophobia. Starving and ready to get down the mountain, we took an insanely long escalator halfway down. Then a bus brought us to another cable car where there was another long wait. Maybe two more hours? I forget. We were snapping at each other the whole time. We finally got back down and went to the same street food vendor and drank the same beer we had the night before. Where I proceeded to cry over nothing right on the tiny stool and picnic table on the street. Oh dear.
