Day one, one waterfall

In the morning, I was in Jishou, and I was immediately whisked off on a small minibus to Dehang, a Mioau village set beside a beautiful river in the midst of all the giant karst mountains. It was crowded and I was the only one who they made pay to get into the village ($20). Probably it was the colour of my skin.

I set out for the first waterfall and was not disappointed. After about an hour hike out into the terraced farmers fields, I came to the end of the trail, where there is a very tall waterfall. It's the tallest in China, apparently. You can climb behind it on some little steps. This trip was worth it just for that!

I met a Chinese lady named Lindsay who was traveling by herself! That never happens, so we walked back together and on the way back, I found a nice little hostel and some Chinese businessmen treated me to dinner.

After that, I passed out and did not get out of bed till early next morning.
