Cheesy Montreal attractions and getting kicked out

Today started off pretty good, but then sucked pretty hard really quickly. It was still rainy and depressing and Mike and I made a trip to get an Orange Julep. I had craved one of these since the first time I saw that big orange ball on the horizon of Montreal. What is it? What do they sell there? Why has it been around for so long? Why do so many people love the Orange Julep? Well I found out that it was delicious.

After that, we made our usual trip to Village des Valeurs, which was fun. I got some new boots from Aldo and also a fancy silver purse, all for $13.

I also needed a new wallet, and I happened to have a Winners gift card, so we went and found a depressing mall, after getting lost in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Seriously. So I found one there, and then it was about time to eat. I really had a sushi craving, but only for all-you-can-eat. Mike had no idea, so I settled on Mexican. Yah, I know it makes a lot of sense.

So we headed off to 3 Amigos, which is like, the cheesiest looking restaurant ever. But it is also really delicious. They had a taco special on Sundays, so that was awesome. Tacos are 69 cents and absolutely mouth-watering! That's RIDICULOUS!

OK, so after that, we went to go watch a movie at Mike's house because it was raining and gross outside. However, his dad said "No more sleepovers". Seriously, that's what he said, in those words. Like, how old are we, five? So, this is a pickle. I had arranged for Dominik to meet me at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning near Mike's house. If I was going to stay somewhere else, I'd have to ditch him and take the Greyhound home. Not a big deal, but I didn't want to inconvenience Dominik, of course.

So first things first, find me a place to stay. I immediately called Alana, a great friend of mine since back in the day. Surprisingly, she answers her phone, and says she JUST NOW got back from a conference in Florida. I am sooooooo lucky. I get out of Dodge as soon as she says I can stay over. Who wants to hang out with somebody when their dad is being like that? Anyway, whatever, Mike doesn't want to hang out with Alana, so I say goodbye to him and make my way over to Mont-Royal.

At first, we think that I might be able to take the Metro to the station without any problems. But no, the first subway leaves from Mont-Royal at around 5:30 a.m. That's no good. I would have to take a $30/$40 cab all the way over there to meet Dominik in time, so I might as well get another hour of sleep and take the bus and go by myself. So that's what I do. The only problem is informing Dominik. I only have his email, so I send him a futile note, telling him that I won't be there tomorrow morning. I'm sad because I know that he won't get it. Aw...

Alana makes me some tea and I instantly feel about 50 per cent better. It's amazing what great friends and fresh tea can do for your sunken spirit on a rainy day. We had another good chat, like we always do, then we went to bed early so I could get up and catch the first subway out, just in time for work tomorrow. *sigh*
