The beach, the puppets and the Fringe

We all woke up really late and I didn't head out to the beach until noon. It's OK because I spent enough time there to get good and burnt anyway. Scarborough beach is really beautiful and I was glad I went there, even though it was really far away.

From there, I headed downtown to find the giant puppet girl. I guess the city hired this team of puppeteers from France to get people to come to the city for the Fringe festival and other art events that are happening this month. They really hyped it up and TONS of people came to see the two puppets roaming the streets. First the little girl appeared, she is supposed to be looking for her giant family. It was pretty cool, it was like a parade, with only one float, that you had to follow around the city. Hahaha. Doesn't sound so enjoyable but it was a cool novelty to participate in.

After that, I went to the Fringe festival and went to buy a rush ticket. Sometimes the actors let a few tickets go for half price if you show up at the last minute. There was one for a show called "Pretty Peepers: The Glitta Supanova Experience". The ticket lady said "It's a cabaret, is that alright?" … "Ummm, yeah sure."

Alright, how bad could it be? Hahaha, actually what it was, was a former stripper, prancing around on stage naked, trying to sound profound. I mean, she had good points to make about consumerism and feminism, but it wasn't anything I'd heard before. I found the stripping and dancing took more away from the point than necessary. Nevertheless it was funny and this woman worked really hard on the act so I was glad to go and just sort of take it for what it was. Hahaha.

I ended up taking the wrong train back home, missing the bus connection by about three hours, so I just walked home. I found this nice lady that was also walking home, so we walked together and talked about random things the whole way. Finally, she got tired and called a cab and wouldn't let me walk home by myself.
