Nassau

From the journal: "Super Bowl Sunday guys! Instead of doing the stupid party thing, we went to Chez Willie, which is supposed to be the nicest place on the island. I didn't think so. We had beef Wellington, pumpkin soup and Che Willie special salad. I thought the beef was sorta gross and overpriced. Anyway, tomorrow we go home. Today we walked around, looking fr a new ring for me, and some more Bahamian food. Rum cake, flavoured rum and conch salad. Yum. We also went to a baptist church for listening to their singing which was very good. That's about it. It's really cold lately, but I only have one pair of pants."

Tara's wedding at Sandals

From the journal:

"Tara's weding pretty much sucked. This place is a wedding factory. There is no real chance to have your own wedding. They should just call it a McWedding instead. Pick your choice of seven wedding combos. Personalize? Supersized? No thanks. Some black dude just called Brian "guv'nah". Isn't that interesting? Sometimes I think they're all being sarcastic. Throwing colonialism back into our faces just because we're white. Maybe they are justified. After all we paid them for this bullshit. These places are depressing. No wonder some people can't manage to crack a smile. Are most people completely oblivious? or are they pleasantly ignorant? I'm not going o say it's not beautiful because it is. Sometimes I just feel like Leonardo di Caprio in The Beach. I can understand his character's longing for a completely un-exploitative form of escape, but I'm not quite sure it exists. Maybe I'm just perpetuating it. Does anyone notice or care? Beach volleyball is not cool. At least I know that much. Tomorrow we will rent a scooter."

Bahamas

From the journal:

"Today we went on our guidebook's walking tour because our clothes still weren't back from the airline. We were accosted by a fake tourguide trying to extort money from us. He told us the history of the Queen's Staircase and then begged for money. We said no. In the fort at the top of the hill, was a dark room we were scared of, we didn't go in. As we were following the tour, we met up with Tara and Matt at the Hilton, coincidentally. The followed us for the rest of the tour and then they went back to their resort. Now we are back on the beach on a cloudy day with more Kalik beer."

Harbour Island

Day trip from the Bahamas. Beautiful and peaceful. We ate the "hamburger in paradise" that Jimmy Buffet talks about.

From the journal:

"Day 3, travel to Harbour Island. We are woken up at around 3 a.m. by some asshole with a loud TV. We decide to just wake up and leave. So we do, and we are way early. We walk to Paradise Island, then take a shuttle to the ferry. Then we are on our way. Once we get there, we have lunch at Ma Ruby's wih a supposedly top 10 calibre cheeseburger. I didn't think so. Then we promptly got lost on our way to the beach. Finally we make it to the pink beach, then we play there for a while, ge burnt and go home. That's it, now we sleep without stupid TV blaring person hopefully."
