All day at Dragon Hill Spa

I spent a crazy amount of time at the huge Dragon Hill Spa near Yongsan station and then went to catch my flight at around 10 p.m. It was cancelled but they got us all hotel rooms and I was put on a direct flight home in the morning, rather than the original terrible connection I was supposed to take. So it worked out good in the end.

Seoul for the weekend

We went to Seoul for the weekend because I wanted to get a royal banquet, which I missed out on all year long because no one would ever go with me. They cost upwards of $60 so I guess that's why.

We randomly found this horrible hotel, the door to the room opened into the bathroom and THEN the room. I wish I took a picture it was ridiculous. There also wasn't a sink. Oh well, the old lady that ran it was nice though. She always wanted to know what we were doing and where we were from etc. etc.

On Saturday we tried to go to the zoo but didn't make it because it was closed for bird flu reasons. Seemed a little excessive but those are the facts.

We ended up at the contemporary art gallery that is not far away. It was good, but a little bit empty feeling. It was ginormous but there wasn't a whole lot of art in it. What was there was pretty good though. Then we went to the science museum, which Dave really liked and I tried hard not to complain about. The insectorium was supposed to have butterflies in it, but we only saw two of them. I really liked the thing that showed how the earth moves in landslides (see video).

Then for dinner we went for the royal buffet thingy at Korea House. They put us in the back in a dingy room, but it was still really good anyway.

I went to Korea?

I got an extra weekend off after I bought my ticket to go home to Canada. When I called the airline, they said it would cost me $500 to either change the day to go home, or I could go to Korea for the same price.

I missed Dave so I asked if he would help me pay for hotels if I did that. He said yeah, and that's how it went.

I visited old friends in Iksan as well, but didn't take any pictures. I did take a picture of the nice hotel in Gunsan I stayed at.

Day trip to Toronto

We went on the Go Train up to Toronto to the Art Gallery of Ontario and then dinner at Tournesol, a nice small French restaurant.

The exhibit done by the Guggenheim wasn't that impressive to me. Mom and I lost dad and did some magnificent colouring while dad patiently waited downstairs, unaware that we were waiting for him.

Tournesol had a special dinner on that was really nice, nothing outrageous, but we had a pretty traditional tasting coq au vin.

Ice caves!

We went to see the ice caves that popped up along the beach. So cool. This only happens once every 30 years or so.

Albright-Knox

Free day at the gallery. Most of the rooms are off limits for putting in new installations. Just go on a normal day. Not worth it.
