More hikes and NYE at the falls

I haven't been to New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls for 12 years! It's widely televised now and highly scripted. We couldn't stand it too long. We saw Dragonette and went back to Randy's house for his party. I guess he's married to Jessica Eckhert and I didn't even realize. She made some awesome samosas and French onion soup though!

The gorge again

We took Sandy to the gorge with Eric's uncles and cousin. I thought I forgot my camera so I don't have any photos from the whirlpool. But it was the furthest down I ever went there! Sandy was a ball of snow when we got back. Then mom made us chicken pot popcorn pie for dinner. We also went to a magic show, Greg Frewin something or other. It was terrible. The dancers looked liked strippers and no one showed any enthusiasm at all. Maybe you shouldn't work so hard, Mr. Frewin. Take a vacation and refresh your show.

We went on a little hike

Also we found a very large man with a heavily made up wife, who was yelling at him about their van stuck in the snow. We tried to help, but a man on a tractor got them out.

We hiked the gorge with Sandy

Christmas Eve I went to see the kids' play that my mom does every year at church.

For Christmas, Elsie and Martha came over and I got a timely new suitcase. Mom made a bunch of awesome real Canadian food and I gave out a lot of candy and food from Korea to everyone.

I went to some of Eric's parties too, that was fun. At the boxing day party, I saw Jason, Joe and Kirk, but no Shylo. That was sad.

We went to the gorge with Sandy on boxing day in the afternoon where I haven't been in a while. It was a good day to do it, because the next day there was a lot of snow.

Lost and totaled bags

I bounced around from Tokyo to New York to Buffalo and didn't sleep very much before I got to Buffalo. I think I watched about 8 movies and didn't see the end of any of them because I dozed in and out of consciousness through each one.

In Tokyo at Haneda, I really wanted to sleep in the Sky Lounge, where you can pay $10 for a night on a little couch. I arrived at the airport close to midnight, but they wouldn't check me in for the next day. Sky Lounge is past security, so without a ticket, I wasn't allowed in. I had to sleep in the noisy lobby. If you call that sleep.

In New York, I was able to get on an earlier flight to Buffalo and I asked the woman at the JetBlue desk if they were able to transfer my checked bags too, she said yes. When I got to Buffalo, of course they weren't there. Then, the missing baggage person said to me, she won't send them to me, because it's "my fault" I took the earlier flight.

So I had to wait for the next flight. So tired and dirty. Eric and I killed some time at Target, because you know how much I miss shopping at big box stores...we also played hide and seek in the airport. Did you know there are not many good hiding spots in the Buffalo airport? Eric managed to find a pretty good one behind a garbage can. It took me a while to find him.

When the next flight came in, only one of my bags was there. It was the important one, so we just filled in a form and then went home.

The handle on my bag was cut off because it wouldn't go down. Eric smashed all the little cakes in my bag because he didn't know how to carry it.

Anyway, when we finally got home, mom made big steaks and I passed out.

At Gimpo

I got there quite a few hours early because my co-teacher said there would be a lot of traffic. There was only a little traffic. I took a nap. I was already tired.

Getting on the bus

Sometime in the afternoon I took a long taxi ride out to the highway and boarded the bus to Gimpo airport. I was a little nervous because it was so far away, but I ended up making it on time and my ticket was there waiting for me.

Natalie and Jason's housewarming party!

Natalie and Jason moved into a new apartment. It was fun until someone yelled at me and then I decided it was time to go home. We ate a lot of food. Even burritos with sour cream, but I was too full to attempt them!

Stupid Seoul

Everytime I go to Seoul I have a crap time. This time was no exception. First, I had to run to the bus in my army boots. Blisters ensued. Then, I went to go drop off my UPS package, I am returning my non-functional Kindle to Amazon... yet again. That place wasn't open on Saturdays (they didn't post the hours online so I had no way to know). After that, I went to the National Museum of Korea, and it was great. I learned all about history and saw a bunch of old stuff. I was really tired after that and went to go meet Ken for his big party. He was frazzled and nervous so I helped him out planning his party games etc. etc. We had M&Ms which we gave to people, and whichever colour you got, that meant you had to converse with people who had the same colour. We gave everyone a bunch of conversation starter questions and sort of let them go. People really got into it and it was a lot of fun. Then, at the end of the night, I was talking to some of Ken's friends and they told me he in fact, was not gay, and that I should not surf his couch tonight. Ahhhh dammit. OK... so later on, we were having a lot of fun playing foosball etc. etc. and somehow he got me to go off away from his friends and he tried to get me to drink a bunch of drinks. It didn't work, so I told him I was taking the next bus home, he was mad, but whatever, he was probably planning something unsavoury. After that, I waited in the cafe until the subway started running again and was very very mad. I found a coat that someone left around, which fit me perfectly and took it home. Screw you Seoul, I'm keeping your jacket.

Get me outta herrrrrrrrre!

Seoul again with Korean class this time!

Michelle, our Korean teacher wanted to take us to Seoul for a day. Just for a day. We woke up at 5:45 a.m. and could not find a taxi. Nicole and I had to run after one to make it to the train station on time! When we got there, half asleep we munched on some homemade rice cake thingys and dunkin' donuts. We ate a lot that day. Our first stop was Namdaemun market where I almost bought a bunch of stuff, but then decided against it because it was actually crap. Michelle gave us some crazy deep fried thing with glass noodles and onions inside, it was hot and tasty. It was really cold out so that was good. I found an amazing accessory store. I took one picture and they got mad at me! I don't know why. Next stop was the Korean National Museum. There were a lot of really old pots and things. Love it. Then, we went to Itaewon, which is another shopping place, but not for long. Next, we had 30 minutes to take in a traditional village, sort of like they have in Jeonju, but I thought it wasn't as good. The sun was setting so we headed off to the big palace, Changdeokgung palace. It was the summer palace for the emperor in the 15th century. After that, our last stop was a craft market, but I can't remember what it's called. It was this amazing mall full of little boutiques and artisans. Dinner was bibimbap around the corner, which was sizzling and amazing! Then we all were about ready to pass out, so we took the bus home right after dinner.
